I recently bought a used bold with version 5.0 software installed. I want to downgrade the device to the current O.S. but i get a "fatal error" during the install. Anyone know what is happening? This version of software isn't compatible with many applications that is why i want to install the 4.6 O.S
    Help me please!

You could wipe the existing software from the device and then install from there. The bigger question here is, where exactly did you get this Bold? 5.0 hasn't been leaked so that either came from a beta tester or from inside RIM.

Wish it was an April fools joke. Tried to wipe it already but no luck. During the process the unit will turn off and then I get the "fatal error" Anything else I could try?

The photo is dated 1/04/09, and that looks almost like a Curve 83xx series, but thats hard to tell.

The cryptographic kernel went backwards for v5.0? cmon...

    it's v3.8.5.50a for 247. Try harder...

i noticed that too...my explanation was its a different platform and OS variation completely so if it is in fact 5.0 those numbers not progressing would mean next to nothing...i'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt here

Yeah but in that case, most of the versions are a somewhat similar increase compared to existing OSes, rather than totally all over the place.

Assuming this is true for no particular reason, nobody here has Blackberry OS 5.0, so nobody here can help you.

Oh the memories. That version sucks!! Very buggy. If you weren't supposed to have that device, I'd help you out with the fix. But it's an EU and basically a paper weight unless you can get a newer version than what you have.
