I find the GPS slower on my bold then my curve however with my curve I had to hack my phone to enable all the GPS connections. Do you need to do that with the Bold too? Google Maps keeps putting me in the wrong location for some odd reason and its taking long enough to find the new one....

Ah, in addition to your inquiry about google maps, this is another question, I downloaded google maps to my Bold and apparently google maps is not compatible with the 9700? Does anyone know what that's all about? I downloaded it anyway and it does work a bit.

You don't need any 'hack' for GPS to work on the 9700, and

Google Maps is fully compatible, and works just fine

I've been having the same trouble with Google Maps. It takes FOREVER to find a location. I've just been having to rely on the GPS in my car......

I just use the native BB maps and works flawlessly for me...used it twice today and no problems what so ever, hooked up to satellites fine and worked as it was supposed to....only downfall...sucks my battery life! 2 hour road trip each way knocked off 30%...
