I'm hoping an old 9650/9700/9780 owner who upgraded to the 9900/9930 could take a couple pictures comparing the size of the two devices?? Ideally I'd like to see the 9650 sitting directly on top of the 9930 to get a sense of how much bigger the new device is. Although I'm excited for a bigger keyboard, I carry my phone almost exclusively in my pocket and am a little worried about it being too big to be comfortable. I never used the 9000 so I can't compare.

Many thanks for anyone who can help. I've searched the web and haven't really found any good photo comparisons (and even got let down my Kevin's review not including any).

Kevin's review includes a side shot comparing thickness and an above view comparing the width.

Thanks bighap. The video had a couple shots which kind of show the size difference. I wish the review photos had one with the 9780 just right on top because it's really hard to judge how much taller the 9900 is the way they're being held in the second photo. Hopefully I'll get to see one in person soon and judge for myself.

It is indeed huge and looks big as compared to the 97xx bold's. I too pocket my phone, mostly in my shirt pocket or my trousers pocket and this phone is really big for doing that.
Quite a few, here in India, are selling the phone due to the size.
These people never used the 9000. So if you have/had no love for the 9000 size, you will find the width big. The thinness of this, does not compensate for the big volume.

I don't find the size an issue at all. I actually find that it feels better in my pocket than the 9300 that my company supplied me does. The form factor to me is their absolute best yet in terms of overall functionality.

    Also Kf'nP FTW!!!

to me the size is not an issue at all, it is thinner than the previous models and a little larger in size. Trust me, as soon as you type on it, you will appreciate the size very much!

There is no choice to have the width grow a little if you want the best keyboard. It is WELL worth the slight gain in size.

Being a person with LARGE hands, the 9900 is perfect for me!

phonearena.com has a pretty cool size comparison tool. Thanks for the heads-up Protofa.

Interesting to hear some people love the new size while in India it's being returned because of it. I was actually ready to just bite the bullet and buy the 9930 last night but when I went online to do it I found out I bought my 9650 on 8/23 last year and have to wait until at least next week before I can upgrade. I'll probably just plan to wait until the 25th and head into the local Verizon store to compare the size. The more I think about it, the less of a problem I think it will be considering the 9650 is already slighty bigger than the 9700 so the incremental difference from the 9650 to 9930 is even smaller.

Anyway, thanks for the input guys.

I went from a 9700 to the 9900 and to be honest, i love it.

The feel of this phone is awesome, and the keyboard blows the 9700 out of the water.
