    Hi everyone,
I am an android user and I just completely broke the touch screen of my phone. Many of my friends have blackberries and they all love them so much, but they can't seem to tell me why. What are the advantages to having a blackberry (besides push email, keyboard, and bbm)? I really find those features attractive, because I text alot and it would help, but I wanted to know what other features this phone has that an android device does not that would make me want to switch. I am only 18 and do not need this phone for business reasons, just using it as a consumer. Thank you for your help!

You're the only one who can answer this question. I love my BB and I wouldn't trade it for any other phone, I've had iPhone in the past and couldn't stand it. Like you I am big on texting and the keyboard makes it easy and fast, BBM is great, free and fast. Best way to keep in touch with 100's of my friends all over the world any state, anytime, and update pictures and status', also you can send pictures and videos as well.

The email is fast, easy to use and works great. The apps are getting better with time (iPhone has BB beat with apps and browser definitely).

Being most of your friends have BB's it will be easier for you guys to BBM and talk and stuff. Like I said, it all comes down to what you like and prefer, some people love BB, others don't.

I answered your same post in the general discussion. My answer stays the same.

When talking about the 9650, if you can get a cheap refurb one for a month do it. The new devices, like the Bold Touch 9930 will be far more competitive and much much faster with more memory and a bigger screen (plus a touch screen with the amazing keyboard).

And since your friends have BBs, BBM will be your best friend.

    What the above said,
I'd go with something like an old tour or curve first.
Then get the 9930 when it comes out.

I would have to agree with the previous comments, get a refurbished Blackberry at a cheap price and see how much the difference is compared to other smartphones and wait for the Blackberry 9900 series (due out in sept). The combination of Blackberry, touch screen and keypad will put Rim back on the map and competitive with the current market of "smart" phones

I'd try to buy a craigslist blackberry... even an older curve type design... to hold me over until the 9900 or other update arrives. As much as I love my 9650, I do believe that I can do the same things with my old curve. The wifi is the primary upgrade from a practical point of view.

Blackberry: IMHO, excellent texting, email, call logs and social feed integrated in one screen/app, awesome battery life, rugged, best keyboard, however, internet is terrible (on the small screens).
If you use the internet a lot, take a peek at your friends BB. Otherwise, use the tips in the above postings - try one first - new stuff coming in the next few months.

I do love my Bold 9650. Compared to some other smartphones it does lack some of the bells and whistles. The screen is a tad small. Some limitations when sending videos either MMS or email. No way to load video directly to Facebook. BUT...Battery life is the best. Can't beat BB's keyboard messaging aspect. Multi-tasking or even just switching between apps stinks. Compared to my Pre it it a hassle. Rock solid phone. Can't beat the push notifications.

Your the only one who can anser if you should get it... I have the bold (getting ready to switch) but I have to say I am in love with my phone. the camera works great (sometimes the flash whites people out) the keyboard im in love with! bbm awsome, os6 is great! love the tabs in the browser, push email, well thats another story. I've had tons of issues with my email pushing to my phone, rim doesn't know why, yahoo doesn't know why so thats that... im switching because it seems my phone only works 75% of the time, but when it is working i love it! Good luck in your choice

I like the 9650, but in reality its not much of an upgrade of the first curve model. Bit bigger keyboard and screen with wifi really are the only major differences. The browser sucks on BB and I can't figure out why RIM doesn't do something about it. The screen is small too.

Physical keyboard is a must over a touchscreen. The email/texting is great. Battery life is as good as it gets too.

I'd say go for it. You can find them on craigslist for under $200 now. Either that or buy a curve for even less. Both are great phones that you will enjoy.

i think the curve 9330 is free with a contract on vzw. if you're not waiting for the 9930 or traveling intl, that may be another option.
