Ok so I used to work for Nortel Networks and Sprint as an RF Engineer. My ears are open as to actual "facts" you have that support this. I can tell you that Sprint or any other Carrier do not have engineers that work on Manufacturer OS Code / firmware like you are implying. They do have a QA process but frankly they can simply feed back issues to RIM and wait for a further release from RIM and retest. Further, RIM does not want Carriers to tinker with their base code either. This could be destructive to the end-user experience and RIM does not want a carrier to "mess up" a releases core code (which would certainly hurt RIMs bottom line). Any release RIM gives the carrier for "review" could go final (RIM is satisfied with its QA process) -- but it is up to the carrier to approve it.This goes to prove many things i stated ... certain carrier builds even though they are same name builds and YADA, YADA, YADA ..... remember like i stated certain carriers like ROGERS = Quality and time and effort into making sure the OS is the best they can provide for their customers.
This OS is far superior then the Asian one..... don't ask me why as you may get an EAR full....
Again, show me proof, not just subjective ideas. Have you done a binary delta on the code? That would be a good start. It would tell you if anything changed (even if the release # was the same).Last edited by fast lane; 07-06-09 at 01:22 PM.

OK, I did it for the 4th time (2nd time to try the Rogers version). Only difference is that I used BBSAK and I didn't have my 8GB media card installed. This time it went well... BUT after inserting (the right way) the media card, it takes FOREVER for it to rescan the card (.247 and .266 don't take a fraction as long!). The time to display pictures is worse than watching paint drying on a wall and just about a show stopper. Also, in the motel room I'm in, I can tell you that .266 was significantly better with the signal (reception not as good as .266). I made an outline on the desk to be certain the location was the same. The only benefit that I can honestly see .282 has over .247 or .266 is the fact that an AT&T user can switch between 2G and 3G and that's all.
I'll try it outside the hotel this week to see how it does, however, I do suspect I'll change back to .266 in a day or two. Sorry!

I've had about all the fun I can handle from one OS, namely BOTH versions of .282 Like I said before, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THAT ARE ON .282 AND ARE HAPPY! After having done this FOUR TIMES, that's it! It's enough to make me go BUY A IPHONE! Between the poor RF signal reception to the slow show time for pictures, I'M HAPPILY BACK ON .266 AND VERY HAPPY!!! Why do we all beat ourselves to death trying to get the very latest operating systems anyway? My boss has a Bold and is on the original AT&T with the original operating system and raves about his Bold ALL THE TIME! This may have been the last update that I do for a long time (and it's really the first that I was NOT HAPPY WITH)... I've got work to do, a family and a LIFE! What am I doing this all for? Am I NUTS? (Please don't answer that!!!) Hey folks, the Bold is a GREAT phone and it's hard to improve on that!! I think I'll just enjoy it for a while and use the spare time that I'm not using to upgrade OS and have a beer, or maybe a LOT OF BEERS!! Good evening!07-07-09 03:23 PM - Im sorry youve had all this trouble. Honestly I do not know why everyone's blackberry reacts differently to different os's. This is really prominant in the storm and I guess the same issues carry over somewhat to the bold. For myself 282 has seen the best results. I assume its because everyone utilizes their blackberries differently. My own brother just bought a bold and his battery life on .266 is horrendous. Good luck and I would hold out until official releases from now on if I were you. It really isnt worth the headache nor the wasted time.

Good evening!07-07-09 06:36 PM - I noticed this a little as well, but i still can hear people really well at 90% volume level, just it does seem a little lower then .266, maybe this is a tweak to help in better reception as .282 has way better reception then .266 i find. I have not have had a lot of failed calls or dropped calls on .282 like maybe 5 so far sicne having it installed a few days back, but with .266 i would get at least 3-4 a day.I do, however, notice one thing on the version of 282 from Rogers.
