I have a unlocked and unbranded 9780 which I bought from CPW on a 24 month contract in late Nov 2010.
Sadly, the phone saw water on about three occasions and it's gone through four screens. The case is battered etc.. I connect it up screen screen stream and it actually still works.
I had a look at replacement screens and full housing kits. Screens are 25, gen housing is 30. So thats 45.00 and thats not inc a gen BB replacement screen. So I bought a New and unused 9780 off someone for just shy of 70.00. Locked and branded to Vodafone.
I have no problem unlocking the new 9780. I really hate the fact that Vodafone comes up after it loads up.. also if you switch it on or off.. vodafone comes up.
Now I was wondering is there anyway I can mirror it up to my unbranded 9780?? Like extract the everything from my old 9780, so no vodafone icon appears?
Or can this be removed?
This phone would be a wet dream if I can get rid of all that!
I understand your concern. I've asked many times for many different Blackberry models I've owned (starting from the 8320 or the 7980!) and either you can't unbrand it or it's a very, very obscure method that seems to be completely not worth it.
But then, if you have everything from the other new "branded" phone, why don't you do some surgery and transfer the screen and housing from the branded one to the old unbranded one? That's what I'd try to do in your case.
In my old 9780, the physical branding on the front of the phone rubbed off... but the operator logo remains.
The good thing is that I like how the "movistar" splash screen looks, even when I hate the company and their coverage is crap. Now my old 9810 is another story, because the AT&T splash screen is just plain awful.
