Looking to buy a 9900 and was wondering what you guys thought of the phone good and bad points and one big question is the keyboard as loud as the 9320?

From my own experience, the Bold series keyboard is much quieter than the Curves.

Having the phone for a month and a half here's my observation:

    PROS:
    - Amazing keyboard. Best typing experience on a smartphone (or any phone for that matter).
    - Pretty zippy for the most part. Very responsive touch screen.
    - The screen is as good or better than Apple's "Retina" display.
    - The little LED blinking light is addicting.
    - The physical hardware is premium. This is a solid, sturdy, sleek device; it feels great in your hand.
    - Emails (duh)
    - The social network integration is very nice.
    - Call quality is great.

    CONS:
    - Battery life is nothing to write home over. If you are in a low-signal area you best forget it; this thing will drain fast. I find myself having to keep it on the charger at work just in case I need to step away for any lengths of time.
    - The camera is embarrassing. Lack of auto-focus on a smartphone? C'mon! It takes decent everyday photos but don't count on it being your main camera.
    - The Facebook and Twitter apps work but seem dated and pale in comparison with competition. Sure, it gets the job done, but if feels very 5 years ago.
    - The obvious... lack of apps in BlackBerry World. You just need to accept this before buying because with BB10 it will not get any better than what it is lol.
    - It tends to freeze and need a battery pull from time-to-time. That can get quite annoying.

    IN SUMMATION:
It's not an iPhone but it's not intended to be. It's an A+ communications device and the best BlackBerry pre-BB10. It's a great buy if you want to experience the best "classic" BB experience before its extinction.

If you're trying to decide between the 9900 and the 9320 the bestchoice is the 9900 no matter the cost. As it has a better screen, keyboard, processor ,More ram and memory. I've had both, and the 9320 really doesn't deserve to be compared to the 9320

I own one (though typing with my iPad atm, using the 9900 as a hotspot).

    - Excellent keyboard, not noisy like that of the Curves.
    - Topnotch screen compared to the previous Bold releases.
    - Touch screen reduces wear and tear on the trackpad.
    - I got big hands, so the wider body size is a plus.
    - Classy design.

    But...

    - Battery life is a bit on the short side
    - Camera's not one to brag about, but gets the job done
    - Handsfree unit looks and feels cheap (replaced mine with a NuForce NE-600M)
    - A LOT of lemons, so be sure to thoroughly check yours once you get hold of it

I won't be talking about the OS anymore, since you already have an OS7 device. :-)

    Hey Al Watson

I'm trying to decide between 9320 and 9900 myself. What do you think of battery life on 9320? Coz I heard 9900 is pretty bad?

9900 battery was an issue with the early 7.0 OS's but with the latest 7.1 versions you should easily get through the day unless you really hammer the life out of the phone.

9900 is a far superior device to the 9320.

    I won't even consider swapping mine for a "Q"

if you are using latest os 7.1, then battery is good, I have always used Mugen 1500ah battery and battery life is fantastic

Once you use 9900, you will find difficult to adapt to Q10, for productivity and speed 9900 Bold id still No1

I totally agree with others that the battery life on the 9900 USED to be bad when it was first released. But with OS7.1 it improved dramatically. I usually get a complete day unless I'm talking on the phone a lot or in a poor signal area which will drain any smartphone. I'm also using a Mungen 1500 MAh.

I bought a 9900 brand new in box online. Worked great for a week then all of a sudden all the buttons stopped working. I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but I could not recommended this phone to anybody. Get the Q10, the coding is built on QNX. Sooo much more stable. At least my Z10 is. Amazing.

    Hi,

The keyboard is super smooth and has a soft 'tap' type sound to it, but not an obnoxious clicking or creaking sound. It is the most comfortable keyboard I've used on any phone (although in all fairness I loved the old 7230 keyboard back in the glory days, but I can't compare fairly now after all these years).

Battery life... well, a theory of mine is that our battery life is lesser than other phones because we use them so much. I could be wrong, but if you compare it to folks who "got your message but didn't reply" compared to people who reply to all their messages, you will see what I mean. Lots of typing on and really using these phones, so I like to think that is why the battery life seems worse. You decide.

I don't run a lot of apps on my BB and I think this is why I have less rebooting. In the past, with my BB's, if I notice rebooting, I delete apps and evaluate. The truth is, over time, I have loaded up apps I thought I needed or would be convenient (including on other phones) and in the end I really only use core stuff like phone, text, emails, and about 8 mobile websites. Perhaps this makes my overall experience better but I never feel like I am struggling with my phone, I always feel like it's working with me.

    Please keep us posted

I recently bought a new 9900 from Telus and renewed for 3 years. It's the best move that I have made. The Desktop Software and sync to my Outlook 2010 and Windows 8 works perfect. No more stress! It is an awesome device and works great with my PlayBook. I seriously considered the Q10 but it won't sync lke the 9900. Go for it!

When the new os7 device comes out too, I'm assuming the 9900 will get a software update too, which mimics bb10 features like the lock screen?
