    Helllo,

So its the 9650 processor 512Mhz or 624Mhz? since some says it supports OpenGL graphics so processor must be the best around.

Im planning to get this device even when im gonna use it on GSM network, i really dont care much about 3G i do care about the 512MB internal memory. Anyone doing this? how has the device been?

    Thanks in advance.

Yester is right based on the information that we have been able to get our hands on. Noone has actually opened up thier Bold and looked at the numbers on the processor. The reason that the device seems to run faster is that there is so much more memory available, more memory for the processor to work with the faster the processor is able to complete its tasks and thus appears to be running faster.

Tour 9630 has 528MHz processor, not 512, (new CDMA Bold 9650 has 512mb memory) and GSM Bold 9700 has 624MHz processor with 256 mb memory) but nobody certain about OpenGL ES support for new Bold, it has been rumored without any formal announcement unless someone can provide link to official word from RIM.

It defiantly does run much faster than the Tour did. Whether it's the same possessor as the Tour remains to be seen I guess?

I've also been told that the fact it have support for OpenGL ES graphics needs to have a good processor, more than 528Mhz, and im a bit suspicious about why you can't find official info on this device processor.

Im specially wanting to compare it against the 9700 since they are my 2 possible choices, 9700 comes for me with 3G support, and the device is faster but come on that 9650 512MB flash memory is what i really want i dont care i run it on an EDGE network since im always on Wi-Fi, beside i heard it comes with evolved edge tech..

Yeah, I heard/read the reports from WES from CB and others, watched the videos, read the press releases, still saw no official announcement, but please provide the link for where someone at RIM confirms OpenGL ES for Bold 9650. Thanks.

What concerns me more is the fact you can't find official documentation on this device processor, so if this devices comes with a 520Mhz one, and naturally runs faster because of more flash memory what will happen when SO 6.0 comes out? things will change i think...

BTW, RIM announced OpenGL ES support in Nov 09 for Storm 2, but not for 9650, however software is not written to use it, yet anyway.

App world confirms it, but still digging...........

BlackBerry App World - 3D City Stage (OpenGL Edition)

    * This application requires OpenGL ES for 3D graphics. It can run on BlackBerry® devices with OpenGL support, such as (as of May 2010) BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530, Bold™ 9650, Storm™ 9520/9550.
    * You can use one of the following control methods to play the game: trackball, trackpad, touch-screen, QWERTY keypad. Notice that some keys (H,K,U,J,N) on QWERTY keypad have been virtually mapped to directional navigation keys.

Maybe someone can try to load OpenGL ES game on 9650 and see if it will run it?
