    A few days ago my 9930 model Blackberry stopped working and gave me the following message: "JVM error 545". After going to Verizon wireless (my cellular provider) I simply asked them "I need my contacts!" and their respond was that they don't have any way to recover my contacts since my phone doesn’t properly fully start, and especially since I did not have recovery assistant.

    I still have not updated my phone, hence the problem still exists. I have not update my phone’s software since that would most likely delete all the data on my phone.

    I am extremely desperate and am willing to do anything to retrieve my contacts, even if I have to send my phone across the globe. Help or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    have you tried to connect it to a PC to see if you can back it up with desktop software?

    Did you have BlackBerry Protect up and running? If so open BB Protect and install what you desire. Works great
