Win8 in that first pic just looks like a horrid mess. I'm glad we are upgrading to Win7 now and will ride that out until they hopefully think twice about that Metro look...
EDOF camera are not as bad as some user think, at least in daylight IF YOU MAKE USE OF SCENE MENU you can have some decent shoot. Scene menu is important here just because EDOF camera works by software, so choosing right scene is a good beginning for a good image.
Take a look here: Palazzo Pitti e Giardino di Boboli (Firenze- Italia) - franzfume's posterous website
Some shoot there taken using "fisheye" lens buyed on internet but the camera il my 9900!
I was pretty far away when I took this one, had to zoom in a bit so it lost some of the quality but I'm 100% you would never take a picture like this with an autofocus camera phone. It was a one off, no second chances, you miss, that's it.
Some look better than others but I also have the Otterbox Defender on when I go to places like this. So I'll have to take a picture with and without the case to see if it effects the quality.
Don't use the camera myself, but having seen what you guys are achieving with it I can't see what people are ******** about. Results seem great to my untutored eye.

Usually people take macro shots, then complain that the camera is useless period (which is quite an oversimplification).
Even with macro shots with the right settings you can get good enough results for most purposes.
