A few days ago i called t-mobile and they said that they were getting 3g in 20 areas of the US by the end of 08, and the rest of US by Q1 of 09. He said that if you had a unlocked, unbranded Bold there is a possibility of 3g because Miami(where i am located) is one of the 20 areas that got it before the end of 08. Does anyone have an unlocked, and unbranded Bold that also lives in Miami or near Miami? Or maybe know someone who is in the area with a Bold? I really am curious to see if this is true. The guy said that it would only worked with an unlocked one because it would be able to pick up on the mhz t-mobiles 3g will put out. If it was an unlocked ATT one he said it would not work because they use a different signal and mhz etc. Anyone know if this is true?

T-Mobile 3G is running on the 1700 MHz frequency. The Bold does not support this signal (locked or unlocked), so you would just be using T-Mobile's EDGE signal instead of 3G.

That's what I read in some other post around here.

yes they run at 1700 mhz but an unlocked Bold does support 1700 mhz frequency. that's what i mean...since it supports it...doesn't that mean it should have 3g?

rogers edge is not on 1700 mhz, it it on 1900 i believe, so the bold will only operate on edge

    The Bold is quad-band... 850mhz, 900mhz, 1800mhz, and 1900mhz.

It does NOT support 1700mhz. Locked or unlocked.

The bold does not support 1700 Mhz. You can go to blackberry.com and verify this for yourself if you like.

I feel sorry for a lot of T-mobile customers, because there are not many phones that use 1700mHz for 3G. Not yet atleast....
