Ok, I'm freaking a little bit. I've been so excited to get the new 9700 (came from the 8900) and I never even considered that it couldn't be paired with my Handsfree Link with my 09 Honda Accord. The 8900 worded perfectly with it, and I guess I assumed so would the 9700. Oh boy! This could be a problem.

The phone recognized the Handsfree Link, but it couldn't get any further than that. I entered the 4 digit passcode and nothing happens after that.

Does anyone have anything to add here?....Please?....

It could be a OS issue.. What was your 8900 running?

8900 was running 4.6.1.231.

Could be I suppose, but I'd like to know if anyone has had any luck pairing a 5.0 phone with Honda's Handsfree Link? Oh god please. I'd almost want to get rid of my car before getting rid of my new 9700.

ouch! i was on the verge of buying a 9700 when i saw your post. has anybody had better luck with the 9000? it does show as compatible on honda hfl website, but the site does not list advanced features like phone book import so a little luck and guesswork seems to be the operative mode with hcl and cell phones.

Sorry I never updated this post. It did wind up working with my 9700 and it also transferred my address book just fine. (only up to 1000 contacts though)

what version sw are you using ? my razer did everything but address book in 09 honda accord HFL but was getting a tad dated so i appreciate knowing you could get the 9700 working.

I have managed to pair my 9700 with my BMW 750Li.
It uses some kind of Motorola bluetooth device from the sticker on the manual with the passcode.

Another problem I initially faced was because the phone would not connect to the device due to permission / trust issues.

Solution is the following,

- Enable bluetooth
- Pair device
- Manage connections, bluetooth options
- Car kit device should be listed there below where it says "Paired Devices:"
- Select the device
- Press options key on phone, choose "Device Properties"
- Change "Trusted" to Yes
- Disable bluetooth, enable it again

When phone tries to connect it will work, or should.

did you unpair your other handset from the car first?

Should not matter, device can pair with many phones unless the maximum limit is reached. The accord should support pairing with around 5 phones.

I have a honda accord 06 which has paired perfectly with my Orange 9700 (it also worked with all my HTC phones but NOT the apple 3GS)

Delete the partnership and try again. i have experienced problems when the phone tries to connect with the car first.

after deleting partnerships, turn off bluetooth on phone and start the honda pairing process. As it starts to scan for devices, turn on bluetooth on phone and follow usual stuff.

I figured it would work, I have my 9700 paired with my Acura TL, I worked at Acura for years and have paired hundreds of BB's with handsfreelink

FYI, it will also be able to stream bluetooth audio and upload your address book. If you have navigation.

Glad you brought that up, I do have the navigation, but can't get the bluetooth audio streaming working. I just assumed it couldn't.

heyas, i have an acura and should be the same as honda. when i pair my 9700 you have to enter the code and then soon as the car and phone validate, wait for the car to ask for the name and save the info before you click connect on the 9700. If you tell the phone to connect after pairing before the car saves out, the acura/honda software crashes out. hope this helps, let me know. also, the latest .680 software does not pair well with the car.

Thanks for this tip, worked great. I have a 2005 acura mdx and could not get my 9700 to pair, kept crashing. Thanks for the fix.
