I've had my Bold since November, but about a month ago it began to overheat randomly and I'd need to charge the battery 3-4 times a day. All this while not really doing anything on the phone, no wifi, no bluetooth, no running apps....
So I bought a new battery thinking that the original had run its course, that didn't do the trick. I took the phone back to the AT&T store and they gave me a new one. Everything worked fine again until about 4 days ago. Now's it's doing the same things as the old one.
Any ideas?! I never use bluetooth, I always disable wifi, yet the phone keeps enabling it again. What can I do?! I know I'd like to smash this damn thing, but that's not very productive! lol
Don't charge your device mainly by USB, it could also help to go and do a complete wipe with JL Commander and reinstall an OS, .247 has given me the best results.
I'm not very technical, has whatever OS it came with. How can I change it to something newer/better?
Is there another way to charge besides USB?! I use the USB plugged into the wall, not the PC. Well, not all the time.
Hit alt + aA + H, there should be a thing saying 4.6.0.xxx, tell us what that says.
and yeah, the wall is fine, but the USB is a little bit worse and supposedly kills off the battery.
Do a backup through the Desktop Manager(DM). Then go to http://www.att.com/bbdownloads Select your phone (Blackberry Bold 9000). Click on the first download. Once that completes, plug your phone back up to the DM. Go through the application loader and upgrade the software. It'll take roughly 45min-1hr.
I had some really bad battery drain with .282, you could also try the eScreen generator if you want the best (.247), and be able to switch between 2G and 3G
Well, I upgraded to .282. So I'll give it a few days and see what happens. Maybe I'll just keep it on 2G?! I do live in a pretty rural area, that could help.
If this doesn't work I'll try .247... how do I go backwards, same process?
Thanks for all the help so far guys! Really saving me some money! lol

I wouldn't bother going back to .247 if you've installed .282 correctly. If you live in an area with ****ty 3G coverage that could very well be your problem, and selecting 2G only mode could very well be your "solution".
Honestly if I lived in a rural area with little to no 3G coverage I probably woundn't have bothered with a 3G device if the service wasn't there.

Well, they claimed the coverage was in my area. Plus I get 3G no problem in the office, and since I didn't pay for it I wasn't about to ask for a 'cheaper' device. lol
Anyway, so far so good since the upgrade....keeping fingers crossed....
