    hey guys, i got my bold 3 months back but did not upgrade my OS i am still on 167 yesterday i wanted yo upgrade it but it says you can only upgrade to 247.


    How can i get 266.

    Are there any downsides to upgrading?

    I have never upgraded my OS on the bold before. Also I noticed in the OS filename that it says Vodafone UK at the end. I am with ATT. What will the vodafone brand do to my phone?

    If you follow the directions closely, you'll be fine.
    Deleting the vendor.xml will allow you to use the Vodafone OS on AT&T.
    No downsides, only lots of improvements, if you disagree, you can always go back to your original OS.
    You'll also get lots of support here if you have any issues.

    I would say the only downfall is going to a really bad beta like 5.0 for the Bold. I'm on .266 and its fine. Upgrading give you the best possible software that they have BUT beta software sometimes isn't the best. Go with .266 you will like it.

    Do I have to back up my numbers or files or is it just a background upgrade (where it doesn't mess with the files on the phone)?

    Always backup often using Desktop manager, even when you aren't doing an upgrade.
    I do a backup weekly just because.

    Use the DM for a full backup.

    Agree with the full backup. It's saved me a couple of times. You're gonna love 266. So much better than the stock OS. Good luck!

    i have .167 and i tried this and it will not work, it keeps trying to get me to add .167 which i already have...can anyone offer a solution

    You have to uninstall .167 from your computer first if I remember correctly, I havnt installed a OS since my Curve so I don't know if anythings changed.

    I just did the upgrade. Was very easy and upgraded really fast.

    But I don't notice anything different? Can someone fill me in?

    which os were you on before and u got .266 or .247.

    Well one of the added features is that when u press and hold the bb button, it brings up App switcher.
    Battery life may be better, less memory leaks.
    Browser should be a bit faster.

    I upgraded to .266. I don't remember what I had before but it was the stock one.

    I see the application switcher.

    Does anyone know how to use the blackberry visual voice mail? It just says provisioning unsuccessful. Please contact your wireless provider.
    If it doesn't work, how do you delete it?
