It would appear to be an 'Orange' thing... the future might be bright, but it certainly isn't Orange!

If you read the earlier posts in this thread, (and in other threads also) you will see that this particular application has in fact been 'blocked' by Orange, by means of a SIM update, or whatever.

Hopefully it will be resolved before too long!

I was merely responding to floatlite's post as some users seem to think lack of service books are dictating the functionality maps on the device. This will either be restricted by the branding OS on the device or simply be a configuration for all of Orange customers on RIM's relay.

[QUOTE=alex_g;677411]Here is a reply from Orange in response to an email I sent them on 26th August accusing them of mis-selling the BOLD and of the phone having a pants battery life...

Dear Alex Thank you for your mail. I can advise that he Blackberry Bold will support Blackberry maps but Orange are reliant on Blackberry releasing the software. I would advise you to keep an eye on Blackberry's website where the software will be available to download once it is released. I can appreciate that this must be

It doesn't work fine on my 8320 on Orange. Ever since I upgraded the OS to 4.5.0.52 Blackberry Maps hasn't worked.

slight update guys. I went into another Orange store today, the new one near Oxford Circus, and was told by a girl that she knew there was a problem regarding the maps, and so in order for me to fix it i should go across the road, and tell carphone warehouse i got it from there and so they can fix it. She told me to lie so that Orange wouldnt have anything to do with it! thats appalling!!

Yet another cynical lie from Orange. Crapfone Whorehouse can't fix BlackBerry Maps because Orange is blocking access to BB map data. As I understand it the BB maps are downloaded on demand so it needs a live data feed.

There are 2 ways you will get BB Maps working, (1) move to a different provider, or (2) Orange allows unrestricted access to the BBMaps data. I think (2) is unlikely to happen because it would compete with a chargeable service from Orange.

    hey mate
i can't remember exactly what she said, but it was something along the lines of installing some new software to allow bb maps to work or something. She said she had a application problem with her curve and they fixed it or something like that.
I went to Carphone Warehouse and told them my problem, i did however told them i got it from Orange, and the BB specialist told me (who had a Orange Bold) that they ARE blocking it, and he didnt think they will unblock it, and Windows Live will never be available.
