For many here this may be a "duhhh" but I had not ever encountered this prob before. Had a cell for years, upgraded it a few times, using what I perceived to be a current version SIM card. Got my Bold recently, transferred existing SIM to device and discovered that I had no MMS function. I learned (after an hour or so on the phone with tech support) that I needed to have them activate the newer SIM card that came with my Bold.

Thankfully, it took a few moments, and now MMS works just as well as all the other messaging functions. Something to do with older SIMs that prevent the BOLD from sending/receiving MMS, although this may not be apparent in other consumer-type cell phones.

    are we having fun yet?

In my experience, AT&T has always traded these out for free so at least it's easy and you can't beat the price
