My company shut down part of my Browser. I now only have Blackberry browser (missing Internet browser, and hotspot browser).
Any brainiacs out there that know how to get around this? New OS upgrade?

If your BES admin has control over your blackberry, there's nothing you can do that they can't undo. Leave it alone if its not your device.

Is this a company device? If not, I really recommend you NOT add it to the BES. They have complete control over your BB, and what you can and can't do.

Even if the device is yours, and you paid for it, once you connect to BES, ALL the data and functions below to BES\Admin...

Sorry, but this is coming from a BES admin. If you remove the policy, you won't be able to get emails etc, etc, and the device would have to be added back to BES...

Basically, leave well alone. Now, if you leave the company, make sure they send you a 'blank' I.T. Polcy BEFORE you leave...

I'm a BES admin and i'm a 45 year old hairy a***ed one. The Blackberries on the BES server are part of our network. If one of the salesmen or other people using them, manage to bring in something nasty that brings down the network, you can bet eveyone will be shouting at me to get it back and not them.

The reason we use BES is to give them want they want and help to protect our company. It isn't a control issue for the sake of it.

I'll just get of my high horse now

I think i'll stop all of my users browsing now, just for the fun of it and send Teal a welcoming email from my server

I completely agree with you. IT guys are responsible for thr compamy's data security and our jobs are on the line if the data is compromised.

We do not do this for fun. We sit down and decide what is the minumum that needs to be switched off to avoid:
    - compromising our data under a variety of conditions ranging from a deliberate attack to a total loss of the phone by carlessness or theft.
    - saving the company money by not allowing free access to certain features.
    - saving the company money by securing th device so that the users cannot damage the device by misuse.
    - preventing the filling up of OUR valuable memory with all kinds of non-company files and media
    - a number of other company specific things such as disabling the camera if neccessary.

This stuff is hard to do and hard to administer and we do not do it for fun.

My apologies to the I.T. Community for my rant last night. No I wasn't drinking but not thinking either. Yes there are always a few users that make things rough for everyone else.
To stf63, thanks for being so gracious and ending in fun. You had a right to blast me and didn't.

That's all right BUT, there is NO EXCUSE for not drinking on a Friday night. Please make sure that this does not happen again.

    Have a good weekend.

Back in the day when I was working IT instead of selling to IT like I do now.. The nighmare horror stories abounded about crap users did to totally fu---err FOUL up a network. I'm sure they still do. There was a very valid reason for the Id10t error code on call tickets. And the DFU error. I did have a VP make me change that one to a KFU error. Knowledge Free User.

By the same token, I'm sure you guys and gals in IT have seen the new tech that seems to have gotten their certifications as a prize in a box of Cracker Jacks.

    Hang in there.

    And buy more storage.

You're right Pete. If I had poured myself a couple of Jim Beam's last night, I would have been better off.
