And of course, the great install guide by elite1:

Here's my updated OS install guide if anyone needs a refresher...

    ELITE1's OS UPGRADE GUIDE
    (updated 2012-09-01)

    1. (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from PC.
    2. Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, browser is irrelevant.)
*If 100% certain you previously used FF or Chrome on same PC to DL an OS successfully, feel free to use FF or Chrome again.
    3. Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
    4. On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
    5. Go through any 3rd party apps with option to save settings to media card. Conduct Backup to media card within each of these apps. (Examples: Bellshare apps like BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps like Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; etc).
    6. Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
    7. (Optional) Use desktop app like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
    8. On PC, delete Vendor file located here:
      64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
      32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
    9. (Optional/Recommended) Run BBH Tool (formerly Shrink-A-OS) or BB Boss v2.2 (not as updated as BBHT).
    10. In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click Loader to load OS to BB. Follow onscreen instructions.
    11. After loading OS, perform several physical battery pulls over first 1-2 days for OS to "settle in." Perform first batt pull very soon after OS is loaded.

    **TROUBLESHOOTING**
How to Fix OS not Appearing as Available
    There are 2 common reasons:

    A. HIDDEN VENDOR FILE
Consider trying this new desktop app to remove Vendor from several common locations:
    http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...-files-709738/

If manually deleting Vendor, always hold down SHIFT and press DELETE to permanently delete.
    Check here first:
    64-bit: Computer\C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    32-bit: Computer\C:\Documents and Settings\{USER NAME}\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
If Loader still doesn't make new OS available, search PC for "Vendor".

If Vendor is not found anywhere, see below to delete contents of AppLoader folder. (Folder where you found Loader & Vendor.)

    B. APPLOADER FOLDER ITEMS
    1. Uninstall the OS: Control Panel\Programs and Features, highlight this BlackBerry Device Software, click Uninstall at top.
    2. Delete AppLoader folder contents: Highlight any item, CTRL+A to select all, SHIFT+DELETE to permanently delete.
      64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
      32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
    3. Restart PC.
    4. Re-install OS on PC: Go to your browser's downloads section, double-click OS to start InstallShield Wizard.
    5. Delete Vendor: Return to AppLoader folder, highlight Vendor, SHIFT+DELETE.
    6. Load OS to BB: Attach BB to PC, double-click Loader (in AppLoader folder, where you deleted Vendor).

PS I've posted this before in other threads, but there always seems to be some people that appreciate a step-by-step each time.

For those of you out there who use the BL Hybrids, the team is already working on a new OS based on this new release.

Keep an eye out in the Hybrid Forum for more news.

Tell me this is a big joke! I just download the update 7.1.0.1047 for my bold 9900 and nothing changes, there is nothing which is like the 9720. No new screen lock, no radio, no multicast ... I'm so disappointed! Like never before! I hate blackberry!

There's nothing to suggest any changes, nor would I expect them. Better speed, memory cleaning boot time, battery life. Those are things a new release can offer, but don't always.

Different device, different features. That's why there is a different OS for each OS7 phone, all have different features so only the device specific OS has the relevant features.

EG Curve has radio Bold does not, an OS update will not change that.

That's disappointing Robin I was hoping for those features too. Maybe it's coming in another OS update. I read end of September to early October something was being pushed out to older BBOS devices

There are never any change logs, except for the changes noted by users and logged on websites like this. Any difference in performance or battery life are probably imaginary. The only way to find out what's new is try it yourself or wait for others to try it and report their findings.

I think that I have problem with this one OS version...
I have some problems with my operator and BIS isn't working at the moment, so I have to use it "old style" over wifi. But problem is, sometimes WIFI is ON, and yet I cannot connect to AppWorld, Twitter or FB, they say "please connect to Wi-Fi"... After phone restart it all starts working just fine. Maybe it's just temporary problem because I installed this os 1 day ago, and it needs time to "settle in"... But if this keeps continuing i will have to go back one step to previous OS version.

    What I've noticed.

Browser Is Significantly Faster (OS 1033 Was really slow for me)
Signal Appears to be more stable my 3G connection is much better less switching to 2G
Battery life hasn't really settled in just yet so will report back later.
Over all a little bit smoother and I definitely think it would make a good hybrid with.

My problem with Wi-Fi was caused by bad Service Books. I had BIS on my phone, but due some operator screw-up I lost it, so I got stuck with their SB, as soon as I changed SIM card to another operator it all works fine. I also noticed more stable 3G connection. I cannot tell anything about battery life, because since upgrade I was on phone whole day on wifi trying to figure out what is wrong.

Been running this OS for a few days and it feels like the battery is running-down much faster.
The last few nights, the battery has gone from full charge to almost nothing overnight in Bedside Mode.

Also, I still can't get contact names on my car via Bluetooth (this problem started with 1033, whereas it was OK with 714). I only get a list of phone numbers, but no names any more.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Just had to call my carrier to get the service books sent over again. Updated 4 days ago and since, the service books disappeared. Oddly enough, I was still receiving emails.

Browser is a little quicker now and youtube videos no longer give me an error.

Haven't noticed anything else that's different beyond that.

After two days of use: browser little bit faster, 3G signal stable(sometimes lost from time to time in OS1033), but battery life is seems to me shorter!
