They could really, but not everybody wants the extra asian-supporting code and lack of languages.

Quite sure the mods will move/merge the threads.

May I know if this require a base os? Or can i wipe my 9780 and install this version? Thanks!

EDIT: Can someone also tell me if the desktop manager backup backups the arrangement of icons in the homescreen panels too?

This isn't a hybrid, no base OS required
No need to wipe, just install as normal
Your icon arrangement will be restored

But can I wipe and install this OS? Cos some theme really screwed up my panels and my icons are now all over the place. Is there a way to restore my files without the arrangement of icons being resotred? Thanks!

    Backup using Desktop Software.

Wipe your phone, install the OS.

After it boots, hook it to Desktop Software and do a selective restore. Leave Content Store and Theme settings out (you could as well see hwat's in there you don't really need).

When I installed this OS to my 9780, my phone wouldn't connect to Rogers' BIS server. Right when I was ready to downgrade to 6.0.0.600, it started working.

Moral of the story: if you get the same error, just wait for up to an hour. Hopefully it will then be back.
