I've read the "How to reload your operating system on a nuked blackberry"-thread but I'm already stuck at the first part. This is simply because there is no /apploader file in my Research in Motion folder. The only choice there is "Blackberry", and in the subsequent files I can only find an apploader.dll file, no wizard or folder like described in the tutorial.

Sorry to rain on your parade but there should be an application file called Loader in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
Are you looking in the right directory?

Yeah I thought so but the silly part is that I don't even have a "common files" folder in my C:\\ and using the search function for AppLoader doesn't seem to give any results at all. I'm using a dutch windows vista home premium edition but I doubt that's going to make the difference since most folders have the same english name as the english OS version.

Edit: dunno what I did wrong manually but literally copy/pasting your location into my search at the C:// directory solved the problem. Still can't find it manually but atleast I'm in the folder now. Cheers .

    Problems aren't over apparantly.

The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry software for the device you have connected to the computer. Please contact....

Is the message I get when I manage to open the wizard and connect my blackberry. So I can't find the software it needs to reinstall the os.

Haha, well it's just not that I had expected my new blackberry bold to have an error for no reason in the morning, followed by infinite reboots.

I've actually followed the tutorial 100% perfectly, but the issue now (and there's more people in the replies to the tutorial with the same problem) is that the wizard doesn't seem to recognise/find the OS or any other software to install on my blackberry.

To install or upgrade your OS you should get 3 things downloaded and installed on your PC.

1). Desktop Manager. Get v4.6 with no media manager from here https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22

2). CrackMem from http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/crac...eleased-52044/. Please download and install it and then read the Help file. It will really help you as it has a step-by-step guide to upgrading.

3). The OS that you are searching for. To find the OS, look in http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/ or in the Sticky at the top of the relevant device forum on CrackBerry. You can also obtain this from your carrier from here http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support...load_sites.jsp. Remove all other OS installations from your PC. Install this OS on your PC.

This link http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/prop...ocedure-53359/ Procedure will help answer any questions about the upgrade process.

The whole thing takes about an hour and there is a part where the phone just sits there for a looooong time doing aparently nothing. It is working though, so be patient. Do not unplug your phone from the PC until the process, including the Restore has finished.

Help will be available here if you hit trouble.
