it's due to the phone setting sms to be blocked by the phone's firewal
you're thinking i didn't set that amd you're right you didn't
it's just another problem with the 5.0 beta
to fix this
go to the home screen>setting>options>security optiopns>firewall> and check that sms isn't checked
even though your firewall may be disabled it may still be in effect
so make sure nothing is checked
