Sorry if I'm the last one to know but I thought I read at one point that there may be third-party, non-RIM web browsers that may be used that are much faster. Is this true? If so, what are they?

Try the Bolt Browser. Just go to bolt.com to download it.

Opera, Bolt and Skyfire are the three big ones. Skyfire is officially released yet, but I have heard good things about it and that Bolt is the next in line, followed by Opera.
Chris
I downloaded bolt yesterday. A competent bro4er but Fonts are tiny and interface is not managed as well as on RIM one. I'll give a try to opera but I am back on the original browser.
