Is this different from teh leaked version that came out last friday?
I tried that one, and when receiving text messages, it would display the names from my contact book..... since hte text had a +14039999999 and my contact book had numbers stored as 4039999999
So I went back to .321
found this on another forum:
"Installed 5.00.344 this morning. I'm new to Blackberries, it seemed to go okay. The only thing that's really come up so far is my incoming SMS messages started to only display the numbers, no names. If I enter the message, the menu is linked to the proper contact.
Poked around the interweb for a while and everything seemed to point out SmartDial as the problem. Changing it didn't do much.
Turned out the problem was that I had entered all my contact numbers as 123 456 7890, with spaces for legibility. It worked fine in the previous OS, (sorry, didn't check the version before I updated, so I have no idea what it shipped with. ). This version choked. When I removed the spaces from the contact number, the name popped right up in the SMS thread."
I am not having this issue. My contacts also inclue no spaces. Dont know if this may help
Just successfully added Korean input to my 9700 on Vodafone UK following the steps above. Super happy! Only took around 20-25 minutes on a clean hanset with no data to back up/restore.
yea im having the same problem with the text messages.. i hope they release a fix for it because I really don't want to fix every contact to remove spaces
just wonder, after you installed new east asian os on your bold 9700, can you send text message in korean laguage?? or just this new os let you input and read korean language??

I beleive so.. I accidently pressed a button (cant remember which one) and it came up with the asian languages.. even though i deleted them.. hmm??
Can't get my Desktop Manager to install this. I have it downloaded, I go to my Application Uploader.. it tells me .330 is (current). I check .344, click Next, and nothing happens. Desktop Manager tells me my BB is up to date.
I updated on Vodafone via DM as .344 is now an official update. I have the SMS bug.
It's strange that Vodafone are showing .344 as an update via DM, but on the official BlackBerry OS download site they aren't even supporting the 9700 yet
As for the SMS 'bug'... the ONLY bug in SMS is when you delete all your messages from the SMS and MMS folder, the *No Messages* title in the blue banner disappears. This bug has been present in all 5.0 OS's for the 9700.
If you are experiencing no Caller ID from received messages, then your contact numbers are configured incorrectly.
This is NOT a bug, just remove any spaces/brackets etc, and make sure your country code/area code/national number length options in Smart Dialling are set correctly
My contact numbers were originally in Outlook and stored with a space because it's a lot easier to read if you need to dial the number on a landline. Every phone I've ever synced with has used the last few digits or has parsed out any non-numeric characters to determine the contact.
It's a change to the previous version, so lets wait and see whether Vodafone and RIM agree it's a bug rather than categorically stating it's the user's fault.
