I have a BB Bold 9700. I was running Did an upgrade ages ago and really disliked the changes. I was able to roll back to with out any problems.

I figured - give the current software another chance and I disliked it even more. (I'm not a fan of the various toolbars to scroll across the bottom of the window, I liked the "k" to lock the keyboard instead of it bringing up the phone directory, that sort of stuff. I liked the version I was on and there were no really issues for my application.

Problem is, when I do a WIPE and reload, it isn't a full wipe. The "k" for lock doesn't work, can't get my BBM contacts back, and other assorted nuisances. It is if the wipe isn't a FULL wipe and it is leaving new functions in place.

I'm going to upgrade to a Q but not for a while (too busy to play with a new phone right now).

How do I go back - I want a FULL re-load. I need Doc from Back to the Future to take me back a year or so!

Basically where is the FORMAT C: command?

    Help & thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply Diegonei

I'm impressed by the response since this is my first time on the forum (after owning a Bold for almost 3 trouble free years!

I did lots of forum searching but never thought of NUKED as a keyword!

It's running now. I hope to see my good old software again soon.

    I'll post my results!

Here you can follow this procedure:-
This procedure tries to break the cycle of booting in Windows mode.
    PCs installed Desktop Manager (Software)
    Windows Explorer (Software)
    USB Cable
    1. Disconnect the Blackberry from your PC
    2. Turn off the Desktop Manager
    3. Remove the battery and let off
    4. Connect the USB cable to your blackberry (not to PC)
    5. AppLoader browse to the folder using explorer, usually located at C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Research In Motion \ AppLoader
    6. Delete files in a directory AppLoader vendor.xml
    7. Run program in the directory AppLoader loader.exe
    8. Click Next until there is dialogue "Communication Port Selection"
    9. Connect the USB cable to PC
    10. Click Next, repeat several times if necessary until the process of installing the OS can run

Thanks to both of you for the replies. I have tried both solutions (each slightly different) with no success. The BOLD works, but there are software interface issues I am trying to get rid of - like it was orginally before the grade from V5.

There is "stuff" still stuck in there - like the short keys (i.e. K locked the keyboard, now it opens the phone directory, locking with LOCK button on the top of the phone blanks the screen instantly - like it dies!)

Any other thoughts or do I just live with it and grumble every time I use the BBerry? I really liked it before.
