Like many people here, I have one of those friends like Kramer from Seinfeld. I'll let him borrow and every time, it comes back broken. So, here's the deal. I let him use my Bold today to listen to some music and I got it back and the headphone jack piece was gone. Awesome. He had to break the only thing I care about. My question is, does anyone know where I can get a new piece?

this is taken from a moderator on another similar thread:

    Pete6:

"You cannot do this yourself. The components use surface solder techniques and you cannot make even a tiny soldering iron do the work since the solder pads are often under the component.

It may be possible using hot air but that requires a special tool.

Best way is to send it off to BlackBerry Repair Shop - A full line of RIM BlackBerry repair services and BlackBerry parts for all BlackBerry handheld devices who do a good god for not very cheap."

If I had a friend who broke all my stuff, he wouldn't be my friend for very long.

Anyway, good luck getting your problem fixed.

I'm a good friend and all, but things that are off limits are BMW, Bold and my Xbox. Better off just "change" your friend.

i have access to such tools. there are many circumstances where we use hot air for such task on aircraft, like soldering or heat shrinking near liquid oxygen or liquid nitrogen system, im also privy to surface solder equipment as well.

I've also used Cellular Accessories - Microsoft, Panasonic, Accessories Store, Dopod/O2, SonyEricsson, Motorola, Sony, in the past, pricing is reasonable and parts seem to work !

Think they're based in Hong Kong or something, anyway, just another option for you to try.

    Cheers

Well I found out just how easy it is to break the jack off. Looking at the part it doesn't appear to me to be surface mounted so I've ordered a new one and am going to try and swap it out. As I do I'll take photos and post the process. Keep your fingers crossed.

Good luck!!! My fingers are crossed!!! Let us know how it turns out, as I am interested as well. It appears to be fragile, while I HOPE I never break it, it could happen with little effort...
    Cheers!
