    i just walked outside and opened signalloc. it immediately showed me the tower id and the coordinates. after 10 sec, it showed me my gps location and all other gps info. i guess this proves that the tower identifies itself with coordinates well before my gps even got a lock.

    I've noticed that before but never thought about it in the terms we are speaking of now. Yeah, I guess that does prove the point. Good stuff.

    im not a network engineer so i dont know if they would put them on a utility pole..
    I'm a network engineer, it is possible to put them on high-tension line towers.
