Phonegeek any reason why u feel its August even if the phone comes to the field by early june and testing goes 45 days your still looking at a Mid July release, you don't think there's any chance it starts field testing in May?

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
August just seems the most likely. If we get it in the field in early June (before 6/15) then yes conceivably a July release would be possible. However my experience with testing BBs over the last oh six years I guess tells me that this will be an August release. Once I have my hands on it then I will know how solid it is out of the box. If we have some issues then it will take longer.

LOL you guys crack me up...wish it would be possible to make a bet like, who is closest to release date of the Bold 9900/9930 within a week, the loser as to pay for the winner's upgrade carrier price (up to $200.00) No one can say for absolute sure when the Bold will be released except the carriers themselves, so you can claim to be a tester, carrier rep, RIM employee or my favorite, King Of France like me...it's just opinons...and for us that have had an upgrade and contract expiring in June, I'd love to get a Sprint Bold 9930 in June..so I'm stay happy and hopefull reguardless of the not sure naysayers

You're right though its just opinions for all of us. In reality even the carriers at this point don't know the release date. The whole thing could go south in testing and we could be talking November. Even as "educated" an opinion as mine is no one at this point knows 100% when this will release. There are ideas and targets but thats about it....

RIM isn't Apple. They don't sell devices directly to consumers. So while Apple can make an announcement and give a firm date and let you preorder, we have to wait for the actual carriers to announce dates. Take it up with them.
who says RIM only sells through carriers? That might be the case for us in North America but its not the case in other parts of the world.

Maybe he's in R&D for RIM, would explain NO friggin' Bold 9900/9930 yet!

info: You are now connected with Alvin.
Alvin: Hello, you're chatting with Alvin, one of Vodafone's online sales specialists. May I take your name please?
    You: Hello Alvin, I'm Peter.
    You: How are you today?
    Alvin: Hi Peter
Alvin: I am fine thanks, how are you
    Alvin: ?
You: Yeah, I am really good - thank you for asking.
    Alvin: wow good
Alvin: Welcome to Vodafone, what brings you to our web site today?
Alvin: Welcome to Vodafone, what brings you to our web site today?
You: I've been a Vodafone customer for a while now on a SIM-only deal, and have just got off of the phone with O2 who have given me a definit release date for the Blackberry Bold Touch (28th of June) - I was wondering if the is one for Vodafone yet as I don't really want to have to wait longer then expected.
Alvin: well yes we will be getting it very soon
Alvin: trust me you wont have to wait very long
You: Ahh - they said June, so hopefully not that long. I've put myself down for the e-mail information from Vodafone. Will that get me the pricing information forwarded onto me?
Alvin: yes as soon as we release all the plans we will email you about all the plans
You: Thank you Alvin, I'll look forward to the e-mail.
    You: Take care
    Take that as you will.

I also used to work for Vodafone (UK) - and was recently made redundant, someone I used to work with has a Bold touch (so I hear from someone else) for testing and currently they claim (they did tell me an accurate date for the Playbook) that Vodafone is just currently ruining the device by putting their software on it.

I'm glad to see you added something helpful and constructive to this thread, thank you very much.

Since I got e-mailed a nice little report I can fill out in the future about the sales rep which can cost them their bonus, they can't **** about and say it is soon and it then arrive in August.

Soooooooo, does this mean we are likely NOT going to see the 9930 on Verizon sooner than later? I have a bad feeling VZW will change the pricing and THEN release the 9930.....

Well of course they can, they just blow the bonus. I think you're making some bad assumptions:They care, They know you get the survey, and They are smart enough to make the connection.

of course, they also may be of the "say whatever necessary to get this guy off the phone," mentality.

The common theory is they release them later because the test them more extensively. Who knows if it is true or not though!

I'm not really sure they test it more extensively. They just wanna see how the market react when other carriers launch it first. They feel that they are the current leader in phone service, they think people still will go to their service even they are launching the phone super late.

i don't think this is a reason because Verizon's Bold is full of bugs and battery life is terrible, my daughter hate it since day one she owns
