This thread isn't all that busy...must be all the Z10 distractions that get all the love...but I'm happy that T-Mobile still is spending some on the 9900.

Anyway, we talked about the AWOL BBDA, and the appearance of NFC...but has no one noticed, in Options|Networks and Connections, along with the NFC settings, settings for a UPnP Media Server?

is it a random selection or you follow a color code for led color selection?

I just finished updating to 912

I used the app loader method to get it on there after deleting the vendor file.

all was going well until the very end when I got a pop up screen that said there was an "APPCRASH"

unfortunately, the restoration screwed up and I lost a bunch of stuff.

I hadn't backed up via Desktop Manager prior to commencing the app-loader process.

Is the back up made during the app loader process recoverable?

    any help appreciated.

I'm not as bummed that BBDA is gone with this update as I am thrilled that, finally, T-Mobile turned on NFC.
    Can I say "Me too"?

It should be under the My Document folder. The file should be something like "LoaderBackup-(2013-04-04).bbb".

Just finished updating into this .912 (T-Mobile) version, everything works fine.
Great battery life (I'm using the 3G band and WiFi all the time), and the LED customization is back.
What's great in this version is that it is an All Language version, every OS update should have been like this then we're all going to be happy campers.

Can someone comment if this os runs as cool as 714 or if it runs hotter?

Is it safe to load on a phone from a different carrier?

Can I flash this on an AT&T 9900? Will this potentially enable wifi-calling?

I have a thread about it here: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...6/#post8283296 but this may be the answer?

Any 9900 can load this OS regardless of carrier provided you delete the vendor.xml files that go with this OS. However, the wifi calling feature goes only with Tmobile, and not AT&T. So even if you load this official TMO version, you will not still have that feature.

After having used this update for sometime there are couple of things I would like to say:

    1. BBM 7 is not supported on this. I'm stuck with BBM 6. Any attempts to install is futile. BBW simply tells me the device is not supported for BBM7.

    2. The battery life is just as lame as it was the from the very first day I had bought my device

    3. Funny thing is, the indicator light will start on its own sometime and no way I can shut it off.

    4. Speaking of battery, sometimes it shows 12% and drops to 2%! I doubt this release had ever been tested

I shall revert back to the earlier version.

If anyone of you guys has had these problems and know a reason/solution please do let me know as well.

    Thanks.

Your bad experience with .912 only means you have had a bad experience.
All of us (who are running this version) use BBM 7 with no issues. I have even upgraded to a later version of BBM!
Battery is very similar to .861.
    Indicator led works fine always.

In general .912 has proven very similar to .861 but we have recovered the customizable led for alerts.

    Cheers!

okay, that is good but bad experience is an understatement. It simply stops me from using better features as you said you were able to upgrade to a newer BBM.

Now having said that - if I have deleted the vendor.xml file i can use this on any carrier, isn't it?

Is there any other process that any of you guys do in updating the OS
    Steps that I'd followed
    - Download the exe
    - Extract it
    -Delete vendor.xml
    -backup Data
    -Run update by DM
