how do you know how much ram free you have?

This is the first time that I have problems: neither foursquare or the Weather network or googlemaps will get a gps fix. How can I resolve this issue?
go to options and then application management, there just swipe to the side.

Actually you would need to quote the free application storage. And whatever you would shrink out, I don't think you can get almost 400MB free.
The application storage is either the next tab from what you quote, or more simple, in the universal search type 'storage', and you will get to the option.
In my case, few MB have been recovered in the screens attached.
Interesting. BBDA shows I have 39% memory free and have 202 mb app memory. what are you trying to tell me?

Oops..., sorry. Somehow the first time I read your post I understood it as if you had it shrunk for 200 MB, and AFTER installation you claimed to have 400MB application storage.
I need to read more carefully, and stop doing several things in the same time.
I just updated my 9900 to this latest .861 os. But somehow I noticed that everytime I do battery pull, rebooot and restart my blackberry, the boot time take longer time in logo screen, compared to my .523 os before that had such a amazing speed time to boot up. Actually now take around 15 minutes to boot, before this just take around 3 minutes around in os .523 to boot. Is this normal? Has anyone ever face situation like this also? FYI,before I load this new .861 os I already shrink it. I also dont wipe my device...
Sorry. Just to mention now I test to reboot my device again as usual, it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to boot (but it still successfully reboot eventhough it take time so long). It seems to stuck at middle of the loading boot screen progress and after succesful reboot it shows hourglass for a while. Never experienced sometime like this when I am using .523 os before just take around 1 to 3 minutes so fast to boot successfully....can anyone explain why and what maybe cause this? Thanks
thats way too long..... mine takes around 1-3 mins.

Agree
So did I have to wipe my device andd reinstall the os again?
Will that work? I don't know.
But still try it.

U already upgrade to this .861 os? So far any improvement and issues?
Yeah I get better signal reception, more free ram and app storage.

Do u wipe ur device first before install this os?
You don't need to wipe the device, try first to uninstall 3rd party apps, then check boot time, then reinstall a couple at a time and reboot to check which one is the cause. Do this until all apps are restored. I personally have a bunch of apps and have no problems so far with this OS.
I upgrades from .825 two days ago.
No issues in the process, except I had to re-register one of my email accounts.
Memory leak has improved, but is still there.
Device seems more responsive and lag has gone!
Radios signal also seems to have gotten better. At least with my carrier (Movistar, Argentina).
We cannot expect any major improvements at this stage but we can still expect some tweaks!
When available I will try the Q10!
Cheers!

is this update even worth it??
Considering that the changes are typically insignificant, if not invisible, is any update even worth it?
for me yes.
