This is good. I had 3 software issues, error messages while typing, the watch popping in the middle of the screen every 30-60 mins stopping the phone from responding for like 10 minutes, and email configuration would be erased after I enter it and press save.
I upgraded to .546, nothing. I upgraded to .600 and the magic kicks in!
Let's hope now this fixes my battery drainage issue.
Full 24 hrs into ver.600 & great, great Batt life. Just too good !!
Not a hitch with lots of BBM, emails, few texts, some facebook, GTalk and voice calls.
Except am pissed with BBM Beta 6 ver .111
Damn thing just gets stuck & freezes - leaving you to close BBM and again reopen
Just painful .... come on RIM SW geeks, WTF ??
My data connection is dropping bad with this OS. Title bar says I'm connected but no data flows, only a radio toggle or reboot gets it back.
Also hangs, A LOT!
This is from a clean wipe.
In the last 24 hrs, I used the BBM quite extensively for general messaging, sending pics etc. Occasionally, some messages didn't go while some pics are gave trouble.
I was only able to get over this by a reboot (courtesy Quick Launch). Hmmm, seriously now thinking, possibly the .600 is making the 9780 hang !! Reboot of course clear the issue.
I'll be closely watching this again over the weekend - worst come worst, may have to fall back on .500 series (maybe the trusted .546).
Mine works with the .600 CODs... Maybe a problem with some themes??
Im using Lucky45 themes, btw...
You only need the net_ribbon_app.cod from .461 and not the one from.480 which will give you the issue of the clock misalignment that you would notice just in case you would use the stock theme.
You don't need the whole 4 but only the net_ribbon_app.cod. Plus is has to be from .461 otherwise you would have the clock's misalignment bug only visible if you use stock theme, of course.
Anyone notice that Home Screen Preferences does not work?
I installed, did a battery pull, etc. and found that clicking Options from the home screen menu or using Home Screen Preferences from the Options app just gave a blank screen and the reverted to previous screen.

Is this just me or any one else experience this?
Yeah, it doesn't work with 3rd party themes (ones without trays).
I posted a fix for it a few pages back, or you can just change back to the stock theme to access that option.

Been running it for 1 day now, very very snappy just like the 600 JAVA Swap. Good battery life, superior browsing speed, instant GPS lock, only 1 small bug.
If you use a 3rd party theme and try to access the Home Screen Preferences, the screen will jump right back, you will have to switch to the original theme to be able to enter that portion. Not a big deal really since one would rarely go in there especially if he restores his backup then all the options would be retained. I however have found a way to have that resolved too if you wish
2) Download the Following Zip file which contains the Ribbon CODs from OS 461: Download
3) Launch BBSAK then go to the Modify COD(s) tab
4) Click on Install COD(s)
5) Navigate to where you have extracted the contents of the above 461 CODs zip file and select all of the 4 CODs, then install
6) Wait for 90 seconds until the files are installed, the device will then reboot and you will be able to access the home screen preferences even when you use a 3rd party theme
The screenshot above shows 480 ribbon CODs but the above download file is for the 461 CODs which do not suffer from the clock misalignment
