Yeah, I uploaded it yesterday. I don't notice any differences because I was only back to Blackberry for a day (after an eight-month Android affair). So this new operating system is like my first operating system all over again.
Read any thread about upgrading your OS. Each one says "Delete vendor.xml" - do that and you will have no problems using this OS.
You do not need to shrink the OS to use it, however it is recommended if you want to boost your available memory. I've upgraded in the past without shrinking the OS, but I choose to do it now because it frees up a lot of memory.
Hey guys, im runing OS 5.0.0.554 on platform 5.2.0.57 I am having serious issues with the onboard application memory. Actually im runing msn whatsapp bbm fb and twitter along with BB protect however the device keeps hanging up for lack of memory. Before I use to run about 7 or 8 apps easy with no issues now thats not the case....Also when I try to connect to desktop man, it always tells me no updates are available but realise that some BB Bold 1 are running 5.2.0.97.
So what should I do to get my phone updated maybe get some additional memory???
Shrink 5.2.0.97 down to about 46mb and install it and your 9000 will run better than it ever did. Mine is running so good I am even considering skipping the 9900 and waiting for the dual-core QNX hand set. Web pages load without that long delay you normally get just before the page begins to render. Comparing the other OS's is mental masturbation.
New Track-Ball + A reduced 5.2.0.97 = AWESOME,,...!!!
Any guide in "how to shrink a OS"? I've found one in the forum with pictures and everything, but the screenshots are no longer available .

Download BBHybrids Tool and install it on your computer. It is a nice interface combining a bunch of BB software tools including Shrink-A-OS. They also have a super nice website.
It does look nice. Still on the fence re: installing a hybrid. Is there any way to take out some of the applications included in the package? I have different (better) versions of some of the apps he's included that I don't want to lose.

When you go to install the OS onto the phone after clicking the Loader.exe file, it shows all the apps that will be installed to the phone. Just uncheck the ones you do not want to be installed onto the phone and you're good to go
