Perhaps (gussington) just simply forgot to formulate his question a bit better...Not only Maximum size but which make / model would be Crackberry members recommend...... . I for one am using an 8Gb model from A-Data (taiwanese) No problems so far (Nov-08). Cost I believe back then all of 19 euros.. . Its fast reliable and does the job and believe you me My Berry does not take a day off....

16GB is the largest that Bold will take (I believe this is also dependent on firmware/software revision, but any recent should take 16GB)

I've been using Sandisk microSDHC 16GB (found on sale for $39 CAD) and it's been a dream since. (I've also has 2GB and 8GB versions of the same manufacturer/model).

There are rumors that the 32GB will be out EOY 2009 with the 64GB by mid 2010. Hopefully, there will be a BB device that can handle 64GB and have 1GB of app memory.

Looking forward to getting a 16gb and using the phone as a Walkman.

Any advice on software to replace the standard audio player?

You could have too. Why do you post if you are going to be a ******.

32GB would be sweet, but invest in a high quality 16GB from the crackberry store. It's a universal size (for now), and should keep you happy through a few BB's.

    Hey guss,

It might be better to close this thread and open another for asking a new question. It is usually frowned upon to stray from the topic.

Just mentioning, so don't take this as gospel.

I could have swore that the phone has always been capable of 32gb but sandisk is dragging their feet and only has the 16gb for us now!

The device can handle 32GB but Sandisk has not released it yet. Hopefully, by EOY 2009.

With any card you get make sure you get a CLASS 6 as this is the fastest thus far. They usually come in class 2, class 4, and class 6 flavors. You may get a good deal on a 16gb, but it could be a class 2. Just CHECK the class before you buy.

I've been told that Blackberry devices currently only operate at Class2 speed - and therefore buying a class 4 or class 6 is pointless?

This class rating business is a classic piece of misinformation that has been propagated around here lately.

The class rating refers to the minimum sustained speed at which the card can continuously record video data, NOT the transfer speed for data being read and written to the card.

Class rating is distinct from the card's speed rating, which is expressed in fine print in a different place on the card's packaging/label in terms such as "up to 15MB/s Read, 9MB/s Write."

So what write/read speed do I need with my Bold to ensure that it doesn't slow me down?

Frankly, I don't even know what the speed rating is on the 16GB SanDisk card I got back in January. Whatever it is, it hasn't slowed me down. I wouldn't even think about it unless I were using the Bold as a hard drive or something like that.

The cards might slow down your computer but not your phone. Any card will be fine for the phone without noticing any speed difference.
