this happens on my wifes 9700 and she has to do a battery pull to get it working and it starting happening on my bb 9900 and was wondering why my bb wont make phone calls doesnt matter the coverage, just sometimes ill go to call somebody and it will say connected but no sound or ring nothing and after a battery pull it starts to work, happens once or twice a week. thankfully it doesnt take long for it to boot back up maybe two minutes.

Could be your SIM card. Take it out and clean up the contacts with an eraser. Maybe you should try a replacement SIM from you carrier.
