Put in my sim card, and booted up the phone. As soon as the os was loaded it started synching all my emails like it's supposed to. But then the drive safely app just started itself and started trying to read every single email at the same time. It sounded like a room full of people all babbling at the same time. The screen was frozen while it was doing this so I couldn't go into drive safely to turn it off. After about 30 seconds the screen went black so i pulled the battery... now the phone just won't boot up anymore, I get the booting screen but when it gets to where I should get the blackberry home screen it just goes black

Oh well... that phone saw some pretty heavy use and did get dropped a few times. I guess this was just its time

Sounds like an OS reload would fix it.

That is pretty odd alright, I hope it's still got some warranty or you have insurance. My Bold 9900 died abruptly overnight (it wasn't quite 2 yrs old) I'm still stunned by that (handled it with kid gloves so no abuse) to make a long story short, my insurance allowed me to get a Q10 as a replacement for $56.00 - awesome device -
There are some big differences though, between the 9900 and the Q10 if you go that route. Anyway hope your situation resolves itself in your favour.

I am going to reload the os as the other poster suggested

I have a z10 to use so I am not that worried. Unfortunately I just lost a couple files that I had on the 9900.

Not to hijack the thread but that is a sweet deal. I have insurance but I don't think Sprint would ever do that.

Remove the battery, run the OS installer, as the installer is trying to connect, plug the USB cord in without the battery. The phone should boot up and if it is salvageable, the installer will detect it and start loading the image.

Try booting in safe mode. By holding the back key during load up. This won't allow third party apps to start.

Then you could remove drive safely, and let your emails load. Then reinstall drive safely if you want..
