I am really starting to like my 9700.

    What would make 97000 "better"?

    Faster -- is that 4G?

    Longer Battery?

    More Apps (those will come).

Can't get smaller, or would be impractical in terms of typing and screen.

What is coming down the pike? When, and how much better is better?

I am so in love with this Berry! I have no complaints. Although, part of me is really looking forward to having an LTE Blackberry!! That's what I really want.

I agree with the front cam comment, but we'll probably see a HSPA+ Blackberry to hold us off until LTE is more widely available.

dsimons82 LTE stands for long term evolution it refers to the next generation of cellular communications and data speeds also know as 4G. We should see a lot of this in the next 2-3 possibly 4 years as it becomes more wide spread kind of like the whole 2G to 3G thing. I'm not engineer so thats all i really know about it from laymen stand point,I'm sure there are others here with more knowledge than me on this, but I can wait for LTE (4G) and an 4G blackberry myself. Also you can google "LTE" and learn more hope this helps.

LTE = Long Term Evolution = faster than 3G. See 3GPP Long Term Evolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for more...

The 9700 is pretty packed, but I'd like to see holographic 3D video and a direct brain interface...

A real browser would be nice too. Played with a droid the other day. No thanks. It was cool. But my 8900 does pretty much everything else better.

The camera is already very good, perhaps some optical zoom on the camera.

I just upgraded from my 9000 to the 9700 yesterday. This is absolutely the best phone I've ever owned!

I read a rumor the other day that T-mobile is going to raise their 3G speeds. Basically, making them close to 4G.

I think RIM can make grand strides with trimming depth from most their phones, with the exception of certain few specifically designed like the Bold 9000 (to appease the minority market share). There's no reason why featherlight phones as slim as 6mm have existed yet BBs are more than twice as fat and heavy.

It would be my dream to have a 4G BlackBerry in the form of a Bold 9700 but half as thick.

    Thinner is better.

    Better camera is better.

Faster is better (AT&T salesman also said they are working on making 3G faster, like 4G).

    Longer battery life is better

I'm loving my latest 9700 which has a pretty stellar build quality other than some minor light bleeds (pretty sure this one is going to be a keeper)!

As for what's next with BB, well they are going to have to really impress me with their next flagship in order to get me to upgrade. Their OS is dated, and build quality seems to be going downhill. The size isn't too bad, I actually prefer the thickness on the 9700 because it makes it a lot more comfortable to hold (say, compared to an E71).

I'm sure people are starting to realize the last slew of Berry's have minor upgrades in comparison. Wi-fi, no wi-fi, 3G, no 3G, etc. They can't really keep on repackaging the same thing in new housings giving them random numbers (with awesome code names ) much longer... I hope.
