I know you can set it up so that emails are kept forever - but when do they start slowing it down? Where are they stored - the 1gb device memory?

I have seen BB 8800's with thousands of emails on them still flying so Im just wondering.

Is there a setting to save emails to the Micro SD card vs., the phone's on board memory?

no, the card doesnt help at all with emails, only media.

I have seen users with tens of thousands of emails on their devices and plenty of memory free.

To increase the file free memory delete some unwanted themes/applications/languages etc. Clearing the event log also helps to improve performance of the bold. Left ALT + SHIFT + LGLG and select clear log from menu.

I think the emails and sms are stored on the app memory
That's y when app memory is low, the emails, sms and call logs get deleted

I have it set up to keep for only 30 days because I get a lot of emails (about 4000-5000 per month).

Currently I have 4196 emails that take up 12mb of space. Go into the status menu under options and click the bb button and go to database sizes to find out how much space your email takes. Attachements are not included in this there is a seperate database.

Depending how much you get I would not keep it forever and as far as I know there is no way to keep on your sd card.

I don't know about emails, but when I hit 10,000 text messages I got messages about deleting them to make space. Normally I'd never keep that many, but some 5.0 builds don't actually delete them w/o DM.
