Hi, i just got a AT&T bold 2 and i cant get the function 3G only... All i can see is 2G and 2G/3G i really need help on this one

I don't believe that function is available on AT&T devices.

I have seen various posts on how to enable it... but you really don't want to go there.

Ill do enything!.. im tired of having no internet on some areas... if i have to open it ill do it!

It doesn't seem like there is a way to enable this. It may be a hardware limitation.

Mine is set to the 2G/3G. 2G is EDGE and you still get relatively fast internet. I notice that the switch from 2G to 3G (once I get into a 3G area) is pretty quick so it works fine. I haven't seen any battery drain either.

3G only... not only don't we have that option, nor would I want that option... if it can't find a strong enough 3G signal your device has to find the next best thing, which in that case is 2G or EDGE and then going farther down. If it did not allow that then you'd have a number of dropped calls and lost data attempts when sending or receiving email/browsing and all other data.

Having the 3G Only feature will NOT cure your problem.

When you use the 2G/3G feature, if you lose 3G connectivity you'll automatically drop to GPRS and still have internet access... If you used 3G Only and lost 3G connectivity, you'll have nothing!

i know that... but my friend has a 9700 that is not from another local company... claro dominicana and he has the 3 options 2G 2G/3G and 3G... and we are using the same carrer my 9700 is unlocked and works really good on some areas but sometimes it changes from 3G to EDGE and it doesnt work at all and gets really crapy and slow thats why i want 3G only i know that when u dont have 3G signal on 3G only option u dont have any internet or voice network...

isn't this simply an OS or firmware fix? i would think a simple firmware upgrade would fix this because every 9700 uses the same mother board

u can go into the escreen and i believe select UTRAN only.

its a firmware thing... you can temporally make the option appear via the escreens, but as soon as you reboot you'll have to do it all over again...

i dont get why you care so much to have that option... i could maybe see if you only had the options of 3G and 2G but not 3G&2G... but ya...
