i think there is no way...i may be wrong also...i moved to the Q10 two months ago from bold 9900. So my original phone number is already with the Q10. now, my bold 9900, even if it is connected to wifi cannot get BBM messaging going. However, i can make bbm calls....the bbm calling icon on the upper right corner turns green....but not BBM messaging...it wont send messages nor receive one.

The 9900 requires BIS, the Z, Q5/10 does not. So without BIS your BBM on the 9900 will NOT work at all.

There is a way. Secret is having the service books. Remember when people used storms on att and t-mobile?

The bbm service book gets delivered through the provisioning. And as long as the op has no active bis the service book if he does get it will tell the rim nocturnal that an provisioned iccid is trying to connect, at which tome the nocturnal will say, no not gonna happen.

As for using storm on attention, still needed the bis provisioning.

Do some research. There is a way to make a blackberry data work on a non bis plan. Or on no data plan, only connected to wi-fi. The internet you will get on the blackberry won't be bis, just regular dumb data, like iPhone, Android or the new pos bb10. There is a way to manual put in the phone the service books you want. Search this forum. I sold hundreds of BlackBerry from Verizon to t-mobile and att users and I did them all using that method

I did search it. Many shifts at the Bedford center. As he is asking how-to get bis on WiFi without a bis plan you can tell him whatever the heck you want. He can not get what he is not paying for. Bbm will not work on the 9900 without an active bis plan.

His provider doesn't offer bis. I thought he wants to get data on his BlackBerry without bis

I read it as he asked. "When I turn on WiFi I dont get bis." If I misunderstood, which has happened before, then yes you are totally correct.

No, read it again. He said:

Not data. BIS. You cant get it without an a carrier turning it on for you, and his carrier doesnt offer it.
