To save battery life, I have my BB turned off from 12 midnight to 7AM (enabling the auto on/off function). In the middle of the night, I needed to look up an important phone number due to a minor emegency. How do I unlock this function?

My apologies for not directly answering your question, however I would suggest putting it on the charger at night and use Bedside Mode.

Option auto on/off and set to disable. I use it and if I need something I just turn it on & off myself.

As above, the feature is only for "powersave" to automatically shut the phone off, and turn it on, at specified times. It does not take control away from you, so just turn the phone on and off.

Here's what you do:

If you don't need 3G, disable it.
Same goes for WIFI and bluetooth.
Turn auto-dim for screen OFF
turn screen backlight down to 40%
screen timer for 20 seconds
Make sure google maps or any other program utilizing GPS is CLOSED.
