Will all the new Bold's have the hotspot feature or is it all dependent on the carrier?

Android phones have hot spots that aren't carrier dependent. Hopefully the new blackberrys will be the same.

It seems not, at this stage. I'm hopeful though that a OS update later will bring it because I just slapped down a lot of money on a pre-order and I want personal hotspot ability!

It will be decided BY the carrier and installed by RIM before delivery.

The ones I saw (9810, 9900, and 9860) all had it.
note: these were units our Rim representative was carrying. Never know what the network will have in the final release. The good news is we KNOW the hardware required to do it ( generate the hotspot) is in the device.

So, begs the question. If I buy a sim free unlocked 9900 - the carrier's not involved. Would it be on it then?

Good question -better read the fine print.

I would bet the SIM free version won't be as "tied down" as carrier branded devices.
