    Hi Guys/girls

I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks and decided to get a Bold when my contract expires next week! I am currently in the UK and on the Orange network.

My question is, will all the apps i see people talking about on the forum work in the UK or just in the USA if that's where they are downloaded from, Also whats apps are a must have and will i need to do any software upgrades when i get my phone? i am not going to be using the phone for business just pleasure, but i hear a lot of new software being mentioned but dont really know what its for yet

    Thanks in advance

    John

    Welcome aboard John!

For the most part, software is software, but the streaming radio apps (Pandora, Slacker, etc.) only have licenses that apply to media in the US, so some apps like that won't do you much good in the UK. There are a lot of UK users that I'm sure will have more specific info for you.

Read the stickied threads at the top of the Bold and How-To forums, they're extremely helpful for getting started with your new device. Let us know how you like once you have it, and enjoy your new addictions (the phone AND this site)!

Most if not all apps are not carrier dependent, so they should work. Most of the issues I have been having myself are due to using the 5.0 beta hand held software.

PS. Welcome to crackberry.com. Hope you like it here as much as we all do.

I say run through the app store, take a look at what's good for you. Viigo is good, poynt, forbes, all that kind of stuff. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hi candyman I'm a bold user from the uk also on orange. the apps I'm using all work fine in the uk.trapster which I thought wouldn't actually does and it works fine. Viigo is a must and do cover a lot of the u.k feeds like the weather traffic reports, cinema listings.the news. So that won't be a problem I'm after some more apps myself now. Would love a radio app to get radio 1 and other uk based stations. Not sure if there is one out. Flycast uk works well overhere tho
