The 9700 only has 256mb to begin with and the OS takes up most of that. What OS are you running and have you done a battery pull to try to recover memory?

    1. Do a battery pull and you'll have more
    2. Shrink your OS prior to installing using BB BOSS
This is a know bug on 9700 and it's called a memory leak. Best build I know that has the least memory leak is 6.0.0.615. Why no give that a try. I Shrunk it and i have 110mb of free space.

Yes, reinstall the OS and shrink it first. Look in the 9700 forums and search on how. There are a lot of how-to threads. Its really not that difficult. I'm using the latest version of OS 6 from Bell and after a reboot I have 90mb of free space with about a dozen apps installed. Before I started shrinking I'd only have about 50 after a reboot. I also find that the memory leak in this version from Bell isn't as bad as other relases.

Shrink it, then you'll have more space. If you have a 9780, it'll free up even more space. That's what I suggest. You'vew got advice
