I've had my 9700 for a few hours and already pulling my hair out.

I've recently bust my 9000 which had that bad connection problem which made the ringtone so quiet it was completely useless - squeezing it or jamming paper in is not a fix. the phone was from Ebay so couldnt get it replaced.

Anyway, 9700 makes great sounds for all alerts EXCEPT EMAIL MESSAGES!

All the sounds are setup fine on profiles, but when I send a test email to my phone, the phone does not buzz, does not flash on the LED and does not make a sound, all that happens in the asterisk appears and the number of messages changes.

I've tried wiping it and restoring it.

Tried wiping with crack util and clearing IT policy (its second hand so dont know if it was used by someone in an office using BES?)

Tried wiping and selectively restoring everything except "policy" from the list.

All to no avail, I'm going to throw myself out of the window, i'm getting fed up with blackberries now

Sorted.

Had not setup the email properly, it was alerting for the wrong thing.

What a pratt!!! lol
