My Verizon Blackberry Bold 9650 has started to freeze whenever the backlight turns off. I can't press any buttons to get it to turn back on. This also happens occasionally with the backlight on and no buttons work. It has also started typing by itself, and will fill up the entire field typing "uouououo". It has not gotten wet recently and I have tried battery pulls, which don't work for very long, and doing a 'soft reboot' or whatever which didn't do anything. I also updated to the newest software a few days ago, not really sure which one...whatever the phone told me it was time to do! What do I do?!

    You are running .600.

    It has a BlackScreenOfDeath Issue.

So this probably sounds stupid but how do I fix it? Can I downgrade to whatever I was using before?

From this I'm not sure if you're talking about the device OS or Desktop Manager. To get the device OS, one quick way is to press Alt + L-Shift + H at the same time. Third line, App Version, is your OS.

It sounds like moisture damage - any possibility of that? Steamy bathroom, sweaty pocket, raindrops - all have been known to cause the symptoms you describe.

Sounds like 600, but it's not.

Try a different build of OS5, or upgrade to BB6.

5.0.0.1006 is device software, and was only available via OTA.

I just upgraded it to BB6 and it's still not working. I'm pretty sure there's no water damage...unless someone has been stealing my phone while I sleep to go swimming? Kind of out of ideas here, and I'm sure Verizon will be useless. Thanks for your help!

Hi Friend, I suggest you take off the battery, the memory card, and open up all the compartments, covers, doors on the phone and cover it in a jar of uncooked rice. Leave it overnight. About the OS, wipe the device using a third party tool either JL Cmdr, or BBarc (instructions can be easily found in the forum) and reinstall a different version of the OS on the device.. (search the forum for instructions). This should ideally resolve your issue.

The OP did install a different OS, and it's still not resolved.
