I recently updated the OS of my Bold 9900 to 7.1 Bundle 1149 - it was working fine until my wats app froze and I rebooted the device by removing the battery. Upon putting the battery back in, the phone starts up with the loading screen bar, but stops after halfway. I tried to restart on 'safe mode', didn't work and my PC also won't recognize the device. I removed the media card and managed to start the phone without any problems. Can someone please tell me, why it was not loading up with the media card inside. I do need to put the media card back in - should I??

Also - I don't have the OS 7.1 on my laptop as I downloaded it from the Blackberry site but upon installation am getting an error 'Error reading set up initialization file'. I have no OS on my laptop which I can reload onto the phone.

Please help!!!

I don't have an OS on my PC - tried downloading one from the Blackberry website but it won't install/open. Plus, my phone is working - just that it's freezing every 15 minutes or so.

The database gets corrupted Every now and again if not looked after. Downloading the correct one is required

Like I mentioned - I did download the OS 7.1 for my carrier (Safaricom Kenya) from the Blackberry site - it won't install/open. I can't do what the link you sent says as I don't have an OS to load onto my phone.

Would have been a bad download. Try again OS size is 200mb around about

yup, it's 218mb - downloaded successfully but won't install, get the same message: 'Error reading set up initialization file'

Deleted and downloaded again, still getting the same error message.
