The enticement of the User Interface drew my attention to the recently launched HTC Hero, I just couldn’t resist it and went and got myself one. For one week my faithful Bold sat on the desk in my bedroom as I grappled with the Android OS. The UI is great but that’s it, it can’t beat my Bold, not only for messaging but surprisingly for media too. The phone (HTC Hero) is slow and the hardware isn’t good enough for the software. The Bold beat’s the Hero hands down on screen resolution too. I’ve promised my Bold a nice new Fuel case now and the Hero is going on EBay, nice phone but it’s not for me – I’ll stick with my Bold
Only joking, loving my Bold. I've had it for nearly a year now which as a feat since I normally change mobiles within 6 months or so. Glad you've seen the light!
The thing is though... There's virtually no reason to upgrade the Bold for a WHILE. They made a very powerful phone that can still handle it's own against phones released recently or about to be released.
Even the Onyx which is an upgrade won't have much over the Bold in terms of functionality/power.
I'd say towards the end of 2010 early 2011 is when Bold will probably start to be outdated...
yea ive been keeping ym eye on the hero it has not been launched in the US yet but looks amazing. I have been dying to get my hands on the android OS it seems like a nice blend of iphone os and BB since you get multitasking and push with a clean interface.
They say it is htc's sense UI which is layed over top of the regular android OS so it doesn't have enough oomph to handle both which is a real shame.

The Sense UI is great but the phone falls over in other ways, Apps don't get closed down, the media player is limited and the quality of calls isn't as good as the Bold. That said it does have some nice features and give it another year they might put the UI on a more powerfully spec'd phone. I have tried to like on screen keyboards but remain faithfull to good old QWERTY keypads. I suppose that is why I have a Bold and not a Storm.
