Since I have unlocked my 9650, I am wondering: is the GSM/UMTS the same 2G/3G radios used by, say, the Torch 9800?

Theoretically, if AT&T will provision the device, I should be able to get the same speeds on the 9650 as the 9800?

No. The radio is not the same.

You will only get EDGE on AT&T. You will not get 3G. And you will need to manually load the Service Books.
