The Onyx is a GSM device i believe which is a shame because from the hands on demo i think that would be my next Blackberry! Oh well I guess I will have to go with the 9630 instead...
Man am I happy this thing is going to be a GSM device. From the looks of it, it seems like it's going to be a comfortable use. Even more comfortable than my current Bold.
When I read it was the "everything we could ever want in a BlackBerry" I got all excited because I assumed that meant it was CDMA. Guess not. The Tour will have to do for me
THAT SUCKS, they need to make it global, it should be like the storm cdma, and gsm!!!! >: >:
I hate how RIM has branded their GSM/CDMA hybrid devices as 'World Editions', thus creating this perception amongst CDMA users. GSM phones are "global". Only a handful of carriers in North America support CDMA. As an AT&T user, why would I want or need a CDMA chipset taking up space in my BB?
Moreover, what's with the love for CDMA? Unless you live in an area not covered by GSM, whats the appeal? Shorter battery life? Poorer voice quality? Days-late voicemail notifications?

The onyx is global! All gsm blackberry's are global. Not all cdma blackberrys are global. If storm and tour no have quad band gsm radios, they no global. Gsm is global standard not cdma.

What he said.
It's the GSM radio that makes it global, not the CDMA. If your phone is GSM only, then it is already a "world phone." CDMA is useless outside of NA. Ok, maybe some other places have it too, but everyone has GSM.
