Not to thread hijack, but somewhat on topic what with accessing the battery for a battery pull-- why not SHIFT-ALT-DEL reset that way? Is that not the same as a battery pull? What's the advantage to a battery pull?
A battery pull is still a more thorough reboot than the other method.
I chose to fold a post it in half and post the sticky side against the battery cover so that it doesn't fall off every time I remove the cover.
My Bold squeeked out of the box, not over time. Same when I had my Curve.

Instead of using a card and run into the "another piece to remove when doing a battery pull" issue, I just put a couple layers of clear tape to the inside of the battery cover. No more squeak, no pieces of paper to catch when you take the cover off.
I work in a hospital and we have some tape that's actually a foam. It's thicker than regular tape, but about the same size if you fold a buisness card. I just stuck it on the inside of the cover and probem solved!
