While reading feedback on Bellshare's site concerning BerryWeather lag on the 9700 experienced by some users, I came along a post that points to an article cautioning Bold users to not use non-carrier OS releases, as per RIM's advice. I am not sure if this has been shared in CrackBerry (my search did not yield any related posts from what I saw), and apologize beforehand if it has been.

BTW, the site also gives high praise to the 9700!
